In the last two decades in Upper Silesia there was an economic collapse in metallurgical and mining industries which were main sectors of the region’s economy. A related surge in bankruptcies and group redundancies, partially connected with the restructuring of plants and partially resulting in their liquidation, led to a change in the traditional pattern of the Silesian family making women take up employment, so far reserved for men.
Such situation affected the employment structure in the glass industry, including CP Glass S.A. Orzesze Glassworks Branch where a number of female employees systematically grew up. In this branch of industry women are employed in administration, quality control services and in warehouses. As a result of such processes the plant in Orzesze employs 408 persons, including 114 women and 294 men. However both indexes tend now to level out.
CP Glass S.A. observes the rules of equal opportunity and any promotions, pay rise and access to training only depend on professional considerations.
